Rick Collar
I’ve been involved with photography most of my life. As a kid I was the one at family gatherings taking pictures. When I was in the service I had a camera with me. After I got married I took pictures of our children growing up. So when it came to retirement in 2004 my wife said, “you’ll need a hobby after your retire”. Photography was my choice. It has been extremely rewarding and challenging, like the time I had to climb the face of a cliff with a backpack, camera, and tripod on my back, twice. I swore I’d never do that again. The rewards have been shooting the fjords of Norway, the aurora borealis on Mount Baker, the milky way on Mount Rainier, capturing a once in a lifetime lightning storm that lasted over two hours, and many other adventures too numerous to list. As you can see photography is a big part of my life.
